A cotton mill in the Khalach town in the Lebap region is increasing Uzbekistan's overall exports to Turkey, the United States, Russia and Lithuania, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Friday.
The growth rate of yarn production as of early 2011 is 107 percent compared to the same period in 2010. In physical terms, increase hits 311 tons of high quality yarn.
The company was commissioned in 2002, and German and Swiss equipment is installed here.
Turkmenistan harvested over 1.5 million tons of raw cotton in 2011. Traditionally, the country exports to China, UK, South Korea, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic states.
In 2010 contractual obligations were overfulfilled and about 1.300 million tons of cotton was harvested instead of the planned 1.50 million tons.
There are 36 ginneries operating under the State Concern "Turkmenpagta" (Turkmen Cotton).
