Two large-capacity tankers Aframax of Kazakh National Marine Shipping Co. Kazmortransflot came to Georgian Batumi Black Sea Port on Dec. 9, Kazakh KazMunaiGas reported.
These tankers will promote Kazmortransflot's participation in the transportation of "big oil" in open sea.
Earlier Kazmortransflot acquired two Aframax oil tankers with deadweight of 115,000 tons each. New ships were named as Alatau and Altai.
These tankers were made by South Korean shipbuilding company Samsung Heavy Industries and intended for oil and petroleum products transportation in the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
Kazmortransflot was founded by the Kazakh government in 1998 to bolster the sea transport in the country and create a national merchant shipping company. The company specializes in delivery of different types of cargo, including oil and products, general cargo, containers; construction, exploitation, repair of all types of vessels, as well as leasing of vessels.
Today Kazmortransflot's fleet makes up 21 vessels of various types, including eight tankers. Accordance to the development strategy until 2020, the company plans to increase the total tonnage of its own fleet to 1.426 million tons by buying fore large vessels more.
The Batumi Sea Port is situated in the South-West part of the Black Sea. The territory of the port is 22.2 hectares. Number of berths is 11. Total area of the open storage territory is 15,656 m2. In 2008 Batumi port is acquired by Kazakh KazMunaiGas.
KazMunaiGas is the Kazakh national operator for hydrocarbon exploration, production, processing and transportation. The state owns 100 percent of the company's shares.
