Iran-Latin America trade relations to expand

It has been reported by a government representative that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be accompanied by a team of senior political and economic advisors on his upcoming 5-day trip to Latin America, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) says.

Mr. Ahmadinejad will leave next Sunday, 8th January, and his trip will include visits to Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador.

Several dam buildings and electricity projects are on the agenda for discussion, said Majid Namjoo, Iran's Energy Minister.

One of the projects Iran is seeking to build is a hydroelectric dam in Ecuador. Mr. Namjoo said that Iran was competing against China for the contract.
