Unemployment level in Tajikistan hits 2.6 percent

The number of officially registered unemployed citizens in Tajikistan exceeded 55,000 people in late November, 2011, which is 2.6 percent from the economically active population of the country, Asia-Plus reported with reference to State Statistics committee.

Reportedly, the index of unemployment in Tajikistan increased by 7,000 people compared to late November of 2010. About 52 percent of the total number of unemployed population is women.

According to the Statistics Committee, the level of unemployment in the country can be determined by means of quarter researches, which are very expensive.

The last research in Tajikistan was held in 2004-2009 with the financial support of the World Bank. Then the index of unemployment after the research exceeded the official one by five-fold.
