Georgian GDP growth hits 6.8 percent in 2011

The early real GDP growth reached 6.8 percent in Georgia in 2011, the country's government reported on Friday.

"The GDP growth has exceeded the most optimistic forecasts. It is adequately demonstrating and reflecting the healthy fundamentals of Georgian economy, and fuels our positive expectations for this year as well," Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said.

Meanwhile Georgian real GDP grew by 8.1 percent in the forth quarter of 2011 and by 8.7 percent in December.
