Azerbaijan transport rates decrease

Rates on the transportation of goods by the transport sector decreased by 2.4 per cent in Azerbaijan in January 2012 compared to December 2011, the State Committee on Statistics told Trend. Passenger numbers also decreased 6.4 per cent in January.

Average rates on transportation of 10 tons of rail transit cargo per kilometre increased by 10.8 per cent in January. Rates on imports by rail and cargo transported throughout the country and exported goods were 0.3, 5.4 and 2.6 per cent respectively.

International rail passengers' rates increased by 1.1 per cent last month while those for the transportation of one ton of cargo by air for CIS countries decreased by 0.5 per cent in January. Tariffs on passenger transportation by air to non-CIS countries decreased by 21.4 per cent and by 12.8 per cent to the CIS countries.

Tariffs for transportation of one ton of cargo by water transport to foreign countries decreased by 5.1 per cent. Rates on the transportation of oil by pipelines decreased by four per cent in January compared to December, while rates on gas transportation increased by 2.5 per cent.
