Azerbaijan ranks third for companies established in Turkey in 2011

Some 97 enterprises with foreign capital and 23 joint ventures were created in Turkey in December 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute said on Monday.

As of 2011, 3,278 enterprises with foreign capital and 556 joint ventures were created in Turkey. The number of foreign companies established in Turkey in 2011 grew by 15.9 percent compared to 2010.

The total number of foreign companies operating in Turkey reached 29,283. Most foreign companies are in Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, Izmir and Mugla. Most companies created in Turkey last year had Iranian capital. The number of new companies with Iranian capital increased by 41 percent compared with 2010, reaching 590 companies. In general, the number of Iranian companies operating in Turkey has reached 2,140.

Germany ranks second in terms of the number of established companies. In 2011, 534 companies with German capital were set up, which is 14 percent more than in 2010.

Some 190 companies with Azerbaijani capital were founded in Turkey in 2011. Today, Azerbaijan ranks third in terms of the number of companies in Turkey.

Azerbaijan is followed by the UK, Netherlands, Iraq, United States, Italy, China, Canada and South Korea.
