EXPO-2017 subject to be discussed in Astana

Expert Commission of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) will be in Astana from March 11-17, 2012, the ministry of information and culture said on Saturday.

Within a week the BIE delegation will meet with Kazakh Prime Minister, heads of Senate Majilis, Ministries and Astana Akimat (administration) and familiarize with EXPO 17-related presentations.

The meetings will also address the issues concerning the subject of EXPO 17 (Energy of Future), Master Plan and Feasibility Study for the Exhibition, Program of Post-Exhibition Area Use and other issues, the message said.

On March 11 a number of cultural events will be conducted: an action in support of the EXPO 2017 with the young citizens involved to be conducted in Trade and Entrainment Center Khan Shatyr and a demonstration of Kazakh national traditions "Ethnic Village."

On March 11, the Khan Shatyr will accommodate an Art Performance in support of the Astana's application to host the international exhibition EXPO 2017. Everybody will have an opportunity to express their attitude to this project through the Art. An unforgettable festive awaits its participants as well as good mood and positive emotions. This event will be attended by up to 1,000 people.

On March 12, a Round Table with participation of the Mass Media and BIE Secretary General Vicente G. Loscertales and Expert Commission Chairman Steen Christensen will take place. On March 14 the delegates will meet with Gimulev Eurasian National University students, Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science and Elite of Kazakh scientists. Trade Unions and NGOs will also participate to share their views.

BIE Secretary General Vicente G. Loscertales said that Expert Commission's goal is to introduce with the Kazakhstan's Application. In addition, BIE will assess the extent of State's readiness to conduct the International Exhibition. We are interested in every detail: from country's population attitude to host city's infrastructure. Therefore with each of the ministries we will discuss specific matters in respect of EXPO arrangement possibility. We hope that Kazakhstan will get the highest score.

The delegation will be composed of Mr. Steen Christensen, Expert Commision Chairman, delegate on behalf of Denmark; Mr. Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, BIE Secretaty General; Mr. Ferdinand Nagy, BIE President; Mr. Santiago Mendioroz Echeverria, delegate on behalf of Spain; Mr. Yasushi Iwata, delegate on behalf of Japan; Mr. Mauro Maiani, delegate on behalf of San-Marino; Mrs. Laura Faxas, delegate on behalf of Dominican Republic.
