A meeting of the heads of the Kazakhstan and Chinese governments will be held at the end of March. The issue of congestion at the border rail area will be discussed at the meeting, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev said at the V meeting of the Council of exporters in Astana on Friday.

"The issue on the situation of congestion at the border rail area will be discussed at the meeting with Chinese Prime Minister," Isekeshev said, responding to a question from the representative of the Kazakhmys Corporation about the cause of prohibitions from the National Kazakhstan Railways Company.

The representative of Kazakhmys Corporation Madina Kaparova noted that the company is losing profit from the prohibitions.

Kazakhstan Railways representative Mukhtar Makhambet noted that there are more than 6000 cars with Kazakh goods at the border between the Chinese stations of Urumqi and Alashankou. The reason is because the Chinese authorities won't accept them.

"We are aware of the situation. The problem is that the Western China Railway is overloaded and the Chinese side is unable to accept our cars," Isekeshev said.

He added that the head of Kazakstan Railways intends to hold talks with his Chinese counterparts as part of a visit by Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov to China in late March.
