Iran will be able to start the drilling works on the Caspian Sea by the end of this year, Head of the the Iranian company "NeftKhazar" Ali Usuli said, Mehr reported.

He noted that most of the work will be carried out in the Iranian provinces of Mazandaran, adding that large-scale works can cause financial difficulties, as the government will not have enough money to support the works.

Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said today that Iran has intensified gas searches on the coast of the Caspian Sea, Mehr reported.

The minister said that for establishing serious presence in the Caspian, more hydrocarbons structures must be installed. He added that a support center for the research works will be established in the Mazandaran province of Iran.

Usuli said that if the Oil ministry and Mazandaran's local authorities can provide financial support, the drilling platform can start its work by year's end.

Iran launched first drilling platform the Amir Kabir, former Iran-Alborz in the Caspian Sea in 2009. The platform was constructed by Sedra company in the Neka coast. The platform is located on the four bases. The platform was developed by Iranian engineers.

The structure was prepared on three construction projects, including the construction of the Amir Kabir platform, manufacture of the "Caspian" ships and establishment of support center.
