Construction of a large complex for the production of fertilizers in the east of the country in the regional center of Mary region - Mary city continues, the Turkmenhimiya State Concern said on Saturday.
Design capacity of an enterprise is 400,000 tons of ammonia and 640,000 tons of urea per year.
Currently, it employs over 1,400 professionals, mostly local residents.
"Advanced computer technology, a variety of powerful truck cranes and other mechanical equipment are used in construction," the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that the project is entrusted to Japanese consortium of Kawasaki Plant Sistems, Ltd and Sojitz Corporation.
The cost of a major project is estimated at $1 billion.
The facility is expected to be commissioned in June 2014.
