In January-April 2012 the Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan has provided receipt to the state budget of 2.24 billion manat of tax payments, the ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Profit tax proceeds amounted to 46.2 per cent of total tax levies; value added tax - 20.9 per cent, income tax - 10.8 per cent, excise tax - 6.4 per cent, and other taxes - 15.7 per cent.

Non-oil sector provided a receipt to the state budget of 1.11 billion manat which is 17.3 per cent higher than in January-April last year.

Between January-April, 26,597 taxpayers passed the state registration. The number of individuals registered in electronic form from July 1, 2011 to May 1, 2012 amounted to 26,416. The total number of taxpayers on May 1 totalled 443,592.

During January-April this year the proportion of tax returns filed in electronically was 91.7 per cent.

The official exchange rate is 0.7859 AZN to $1 on May 16.
