Volume of construction operations ups by 42 percent in Azerbaijan

The volume of construction work in Azerbaijan increased by 41.7 percent in January-May compared to the same period of last year, the State Statistics Committee said.

In particular, the volume of construction work carried out by state-owned companies amounted to 26.1 per cent of the total amount of work, private companies - 73.9 percent.

About 74.7 percent of the total volume of construction work fall to the initial construction, renovation and expansion, 12.1 percent - overhaul, 2.2 percent - current repair, 11 percent - other construction work.

About 82,000 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in January-April 2012, nominal wage in the construction sector amounted to 555.2 manat, or 8.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2011. The salary in the state-owned companies amounted to 436.9 manat (with a growth of 17.9 per cent per year), private companies - 637.9 manat (with a growth of 1.4 per cent).

Nominal wage in the large and medium construction companies amounted to 583.1 manat. The level of wage in the construction of buildings fell by 0.1 percent to 546.8 manat, specialized construction by 18.9 percent - up to 690.3 manat, civil construction work by 15.5 percent - up to 389.8 manat per year.

The official exchange rate is 0.7857 AZN/USD on June 22.
