At least 19 companies to supply gold to new refinery in Kazakhstan

Some 19 companies have signed a memorandum to supply gold to the new refinery, which construction was launched in the city of Astana on July 3, Novosti-Kazakhstan quoted Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Minister Asset Issekeshev as saying.

"Some 19 of 29 gold mining companies have already signed a memorandum to supply raw materials to the future plant, 10 other companies are at the stage of considering a memorandum," Isekeshev said at the Mining and Metallurgical Congress.

Issekeshev said that the new plant will be equipped with advanced technologies.

"The plant will use a leading technology, electrochemical method which allows to process any type of raw materials and guaranteed scrap," the Minister said.

The new gold refinery in Astana is scheduled to be constructed by 2013. Its capacity will reach 25 tons of refined gold and 50 tons of silver per year. Some 4.5 billion tenge will be invested into the project.
