If the second phase of the subsidy reform plan is implemented, water bills will be increased by 20 percent, the managing director of the water and wastewater organization of Iran Mehdi Samareh Hashemi told the Mehr News Agency.

Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini said in May that the second phase of the Targeted Subsidy Reform Plan would be implemented in due course and that the Government had not decided on any specific time in this regard yet.

"As earlier noted by the Spokesman for Iran's Economic Reform Plan, Mohammadreza Farzin, the Government has not made any decision, as of yet, on when and how to implement the second phase of the Subsidy Reform Plan," Hosseini added.

"It does not mean, however, that the implementation of the Targeted Subsidy Reform Act has gone off the Government's agenda as we are currently working on the best time to carry out the second stage of the Plan," he pointed out.
