Iran and Armenia have signed a cooperation agreement to establish a joint free trade zone on their borders.
During a trip by Sadeq Najafi, the head of Iran's Aras Free Trade Industrial Zone, the two countries also agreed that free health tests will be provided to Armenia's border population for visas to enter Iran, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.
The shared free trade zone would be in the Eastern Azerbaijan Province for Iran and the Syunik Province in Armenia.
To address the subject of Armenian vehicles entering Iran, it has been agreed that Armenia will set up an insurance company in the Aras Zone to guarantee vehicles' customs entry rights and immediate return.
The Aras Free Trade Industrial Zone marks Armenia and Iran's only shared land border and plays an important role in the two countries economic and political dealings.
