The number of foreign tourists arriving in Turkey decreased by 2.3 per cent reaching 12.7 million people in January-June 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism said today.
In June, the number of tourists arriving in Turkey increased by 2.7 per cent and hit 3.8 million people compared to the same month of 2011. The number of tourists in June increased by 1.5 per cent compared to the previous month.
About 33.2 per cent of the total number of tourists visited Istanbul with 30.5 per cent to Antalya. The rest tourists visited Izmir, Adana and Batman.
Most tourists were from Germany at 15 per cent visiting Turkey in Jan.-June, from Russia - 11 per cent and Great Britain - 7.4 per cent.
