Iran has developed the technology to produce ferrovanadium, an iron alloy used in steel and alloy manufacturing.

Mehr news agency reports the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) was successful in producing ferrovanadium through mining titanomagnetite reserves in the Kerman Province's town of Kahnuj.

Ferrovanadium is a strategic alloy and has a high added value. It's mostly used in auto manufacturing for building engine and gearbox parts. Vanadium strengthens steel and protects it from rusting. In addition to auto parts, this stronger steel is used to make a range of items including surgical instruments, and jet engines.
