Cargo volume via Iranian border checkpoint in Bilasuvar increases

The cargo transportation volume via the Iranian border checkpoint in Bilasuvar has increased.

Over 170,000 tons of cargo were transited for the first half of this year, head of the Iranian border checkpoint in Bilasuvar Ahad Mohammadi was quoted by İSNA agency as saying.

He said that the trade turnover through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint has been increased.

The exports in terms of quantity increased by 50 per cent, in value - by 70 per cent for the first half of this year compared to the same period of last year.

"During this period around 3,400 tons of various products to the amount of $38.7 million were exported, while 16,000 tons of goods worth $ 4.258 million were imported," he said. The volume of imports in terms of quantity increased by 200 per cent, in value - by 350 per cent compared to the corresponding period of last year."

In general, Iran imports raw materials for manufacturing plants and plant equipment, he said.

He added that during the period Bilasuvar border checkpoint was crossed by 358,000 people or 20 per cent less compared to the same period of last year.

Iran has unilaterally abolished visa for Azerbaijani citizens since February 1, 2010.
