About 20 percent of shares of the Turkish state bank Halkbank is offered for privatization, Turkish State Privatization Agency's website reported on Friday.

Privatization will be conducted during the year. Conditions of the tender and the exact date will be announced later.

Some 24.9 per cent of the bank's shares will remain in circulation on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

The bank sector is currently being privatised in Turkey. Deniz Bank was privatised previously, bought by Russian Sberbank for 6.47 billion Turkish liras.

Reportedly, following the completion of Halbank and Vakifbank's privatisation, Turkey will put up the state bank Ziraat Bankasi for privatisation.
