Iran's newly established Forex Centre offers $300 at the rate which is set by the centre to each traveller heading overseas, spokesman at the Forex Centre Samad Karimi stated, Mehr reported.

Samad Karimi told the Mehr News Agency that travellers to Mecca and holy shrines will receive $300 at the official rate of 12,260 rials.

The Central Bank of Iran has announced that it will provide all students who plan to study abroad, as well as patients and travellers, with official-rate dollar, the Mehr News Agency reported.

Previously, it had been announced that only students who have been granted a scholarship will receive the dollar at the official rate.

According to Khabar Online website, nearly 2500 students wrote a letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to reconsider the decision.

On September 24, Iran launched a fresh bid to stabilize its currency, opening a foreign exchange centre that provides government subsidised U.S. dollars to import some goods.

The centre supplied dollar to applicants at 25,480 rials on Wednesday.
