The 57th meeting of the CIS Council for Rail Tranport will take place on October 16-17 in Ashgabat, the CIS Executive Committee report stated on Tuesday.
The event will focus on the operational results of the railway network in the eight months of 2012, regulations of train schedule in 2013/2014, a census of freight cars and containers, preliminary results of the census, single management system and use of freight wagons and the tariff policy of railways for freight transportation in 2013.
The CIS Council for Rail was established in 1992 for coordination of railway transport at intergovernmental level and development of joint operation principles.
"Technological unity of railway network, development of infrastructure and tariff policy of CIS railways have been reached due to the Council activities," the information of organizers says.
Turkmenistan is hosting the forum as the chairman country in CIS in 2012. The CIS fair of consumer goods and meeting of intergovernmental council on agricultural industry complex of CIS were held in Ashgabat in recent days.
