Kazakh University signs agreement on strategic partnership with American universities

Nazarbayev University has signed strategic partnership agreements with a number of American universities in Denver and Pittsburgh, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry press service reported on Monday.

Nazarbayev University has signed strategic partnership agreements with a number of American universities in Denver and Pittsburgh, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry press service reported on Monday.

'The Kazakh delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Erbol Orynbayev visited the American cities of Denver and Pittsburgh, where meetings were held with the representatives of leading universities and medical centres in the U.S', the report says.

Negotiations were held in Denver with the School of Mines in Colorado (Colorado School of Mines), a prestigious American university founded in 1874 which conducts applied research in the field of exploration, development of natural resources, production and processing of mining products.

'An agreement on a strategic partnership between Nazarbayev University and American universities was signed as a result of the negotiations', the report stated.

In addition, a memorandum of mutual understanding which stipulated the basic direction in the field of vocational education in Kazakhstan through cooperation with the top American technical schools was signed in Denver between Kasipkor Holding and the American NGO American Councils.

In Pittsburgh, special interest was generated by activities of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and UPMC Cancer Centre, extensive experience of which will be used for creation of National Cancer Research Centre in Astana..
