Qatar's direct investments in Morocco exceed $800 million, while investments in development projects amount to about $1 billion, Al Jazeera TV channel quotes Moroccan Finance Minister Nizar Baraka as saying on Monday.
According to Baraka, the Persian Gulf countries will allocate five billion dollars to Morocco within the next five years. He added that an agreement in this regard was reached earlier at a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Earlier, Foreign Minister of Morocco Saad-Eddine El Othmani said that Qatari investors are particularly interested in projects in the fields of agriculture, health and infrastructure.
He said Saudi Arabia plans to invest in the energy sector of Morocco, where the world's largest centre for solar energy generation will be established.
