Kazakhstan, Austria sign agreement on international cargo road transportation

Kazakh and Austrian Governments signed an agreement on international cargo road transportation, Kazakh Transport and Communication Ministry reported on Monday.

The document is aimed at regulating of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and Austria, its transit through their territories, as well as cargo transportation in (from) the third country on the permit basis.

"The agreement will establish a legal framework for road transportation between Kazakhstan and Austria, as well as the further development of the Kazakh-Austrian trade and economic cooperation," the Ministry said.

The agreement also envisages creation of Joint Commission which will develop proposals for the further development of road traffic between the two countries, and discuss current issues.

The volume of cargo traffic between Kazakhstan and Austria is growing steadily. In 2009 cargo traffic between the two countries hit 3,000 tons, in 2010 - 4,700 tons and in 2011- 8,000 tons.
