Over 13,000 jobs created in Iran’s agriculture sector

Iran inaugurated 4724 agricultural projects during the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year which began March 20, creating more than 13,656 direct and indirect jobs, the managing director of the Agricultural Bank of Iran Mohammad Talebi said on Wednesday, Fars reported.

Iran inaugurated 4724 agricultural projects during the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year which began March 20, creating more than 13,656 direct and indirect jobs, the managing director of the Agricultural Bank of Iran Mohammad Talebi said on Wednesday, Fars reported.

"The projects are in the areas of water and soil management, animal husbandry, natural resources, agricultural industries, research and development," Talebi said.

The value of exports of agricultural products was $64.1 billion more than imports in the past calendar year which ended on March 19, the agriculture minister Sadeq Khalilian said in August.

Sadeq Khalilian did not allude to any specific values of exports and imports, but said that the exports included 77 million tons of crops, 18.3 million tons of garden products, 720,000 tons of fishery products and 14.3 million tons of animal products.

Iran's agricultural output reached around 118 million tons in the previous calendar year, the deputy agriculture minister said in September.

The agricultural output includes animal, farm, fishery and garden products, Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht added, the IRNA News Agency reported.

The volume of Iran's agricultural products stood at 108 million tons in the past Iranian year, the official noted.
