Iran handicrafts exports hit $640 million

Iran has exported 640 million dollars worth of handicrafts in the first 6 months of current Iranian calendar year, which began March 20, the deputy head of Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization Mohammad-Hasan Salehimaram said, IRIB reported.

It is while Iran had exported 100 million dollars worth of handicraft in the previous calendar year, Salehimaram added.

Iran has allocated 500 million dollar out of the National Development Fund to the handicraft industry, the IRNA reported on October 15.

Salehimaram said in August that Iran will pay $1.5 billion in loans to support exporters of handicrafts, adding that that the loans will be paid with 6 percent interest, according to the IRIB.

The value of exports is anticipated to reach $1.5 billion in the current year, Salehimaram noted.
