Some 756,000 tons of goods worth 478 million dollars were exported from Iran's western Kordestan province in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year which began March 20, the IRIB News Agency reported.

In comparison to the same period last year, the figures show a 21 and 51 per cent increase in terms of value and volume, respectively

The value of the province's exports is expected to reach 800 million dollars by the end of current Iranian year (March 19, 2013).

Iraq's Kurdistan region is the main destination for the exported items.

Iran and the Kurdistan region's economic transactions account for 59 per cent of Iran and Iraq's total trade.

The capital of Iraq's Kurdistan region, Arbil, hosted the first Tehran-Arbil Economic Cooperation Conference earlier this month.

At the end of the conference, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding, the IRNA News Agency reported.

The Iranian Vice President for International Affairs Ali Saeedlou and the Prime Minister of Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Nechirvan Idris Barzani had prepared the MoU.
