Kazakhstan to create enterprise on diesel engines manufacture

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) Kazakhstan Railways and US. General Electric and Russian Transmashdizel signed an agreement on creation of a joint venture to produce diesel engines GEVO in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, KTZ reported.

The new enterprise will annually produce 300 eight-, twelve-and sixteen cylinder engines with 2200 - 4500 kW capacity and nominal speed from 950 to 1050 rotations per minute.

GEVO diesel engines plant is planned to be launched in December 2014.

The engines will be primarily used in Evolution locomotives manufacture in Kazakhstan, modernization of Russian two-section locomotives 2T116, as well as in shipbuilding.

Moreover Kazakhstan plans to sell GEVO diesel engines in the markets of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Estonia, Georgia, Mongolia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
