By April 2013, Azerbaijan Railways will receive the remaining carriages sent for repair to Ukraine, company head Arif Asgarov told journalists on Wednesday.
"Some 15 of the 50 cars sent to Ukraine have already been delivered to Baku and are used on the Baku-Tbilisi route. The remaining 35 will arrive in the country by April next year," Askerov said.
According to Asgarov, negotiations are currently being held with the representatives of Russian Railways on sending some 30 passenger carriages for overhaul to the Voronezh railway carriage repair plant.
In connection with the transition of the Baku-Boyuk Kesik section to the alternating current traction system, the purchase of 50 alternating current electric locomotives and 12 two system passenger locomotives is planned for the organisation of freight and passenger carriage transportation.
