Assets of Turkish banking sector increase by almost 10 percent

The assets of the Turkish banking sector increased by 9.2 percent in October 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 1.328 trillion lire, the state agency for regulation of the banking sector in Turkey (BDDK) said on Thursday.

According to the report, the income of the banking sector in Turkey increased by 17.5 percent in October compared to the same period in 2011, reaching 19.4 billion lire.

The income of the banking sector in Turkey increased by 21 percent in Jan-Oct 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.

The volume of loans granted by Turkish banks increased by 15.3 percent in October compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 762.2 billion lire.
