Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia may double after the parties agreed to sign an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Fahd Bin Ali Al-Dosari told Trend on the eve of concluding his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.
"If the parties sign a final intergovernmental agreement on avoidance of double taxation, then from next year it will be possible to observe a sharp increase in trade turnover between the two countries," he said.
To date, there are direct trade relations and trade turnover among the countries carried out through third countries. Direct trade turnover between the countries amounts to only $27 million which is quite small for these countries.
As for trade turnover through third countries, its volume is much more than direct one, he said.
The turnover, carried out through third countries mainly includes oil products which Saudi Arabia exports to Europe and Europe re-exports to Azerbaijan.
