Traditional jewelry was the major item in the list of Iranian handicraft exports in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, IRNA quoted Iranian Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization official Yahya Rahmati as saying.

Iran has allocated $500 million out of the National Development Fund to the handicraft industry.
Salehimaram said in August 2012 that Iran will pay $1.5 billion in loans to support exporters of handicrafts, adding that the value of exports is anticipated to reach $1.5 billion in the current year.
