Iran to dispatch new commercial attachés to neighboring countries

Iran will assign new commercial attachés in Russia, Pakistan, and Armenia, ISNA quoted Iran's Trade Promotion Organization head Hamid Safdel as saying.

The new officials will be appointed by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 19, 2014), he added.

Currently, Iran has commercial attachés in 20 countries, including China, India, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq, the UAE, South Africa, and Venezuela, he noted.

Iran conducted $86.07 billion in non-oil trade with other countries during the first eleven months of the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20.

The country exported non-oil goods worth $37.69 billion and imported non-oil goods worth $48.38 billion during the 11-month period.

Iraq, China, and the United Arab Emirates were the three top importers of Iranian goods during the period, while the United Arab Emirates, China, and South Korea were the leading exporters of goods to Iran.

In July 2012, Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Shamseddin Hosseini said that Iran conducted economic transactions with 150 countries in the Iranian calendar year 1390 (March 2011-March 2012). And about 80 countries transited their products through Iran, he added.
