Consumer inflation exceeds monetary in terms of growth rates in Azerbaijan

Prices of consumer goods and tariffs for services increased by 0.6 per cent in Azerbaijan in March 2013 compared to the previous month. The annual inflation was 1.2 per cent in the first quarter of this year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said today.

According to the report, food prices increased by 1.3 per cent in March, while non-food prices and tariffs for services remained unchanged.

Food prices increased by 0.2 per cent, non-food prices by 0.4 per cent and tariffs on services by 3.4 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared to January-March 2012.

In March, the base index of consumer prices, calculated except for the goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) and the prices regulated by the state remained unchanged compared to the previous month and increased by 0.4 per cent compared to Jan.-March 2012.
