A unified state registry of highways will be set up in Azerbaijan. Its creation is to be provided for by a draft law to amend the current law on the roads. The Economic Policy Committee of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan recommended on Thursday to discuss the bill at a plenary meeting.
According to the bill, a unified registry of roads is a public information resource containing information on all the roads, regardless of the type and importance.
The formation and maintenance of the registry will be conducted by the relevant executive authority on the basis of registration and accounting of roads.
According to the document, the registry is maintained both on paper and electronic devices. The registry will contain information about the roads' owners and names, indexes, extent, book value, actual condition, area of occupied land, condition of the road surface and location of road signs as well as maps.
Under the bill, any interested person may obtain the necessary information from the registry with the exception of data representing a state secret. Information is provided by the relevant executive authority for a fee in the form of extracts from the registry.
Public bodies will have free access to this data.
