Another Astana Economic Forum to draw nearly 9,000 participants

Some 9,000 people have expressed their desire to participate in the sixth Astana Economic Forum, the deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Serik Nugerbekov said on Monday.

Some 9,000 people have expressed their desire to participate in the sixth Astana Economic Forum, the deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Serik Nugerbekov said on Monday.

"The exact number of participants of the forum is 8,900. Tomorrow is the last day of registration, we will then publish the most accurate and up to date data. The forum will provide a unique opportunity for members of our government and heads of government agencies to share views, plans and substantial parts of our programs with the participants, jointly develop the main directions of global anti-crisis plan," Nugerbekov said at a briefing at the central office of communications under the president.

According to him, the sixth Astana Economic Forum will host seven dialogues with the media as well as the first global anti-crisis conference, participation in which is confirmed by experts from 80 countries.

"The President came up with an initiative to create the G-Global platform. It was created only a year ago, but already 2.5 million people from 160 countries are engaged actively within it. During the fifth Astana Economic Forum held last year, we announced a contest, where more than 70 papers were posted on the G-Global portal, which formed the basis of recommendations for G20," Nugerbekov added.

It was reported earlier that the AEF-2013 will be held on May 22-24. Its organization will cost $2 million.
