Iran has reached a red line with its political and economic relations with both neighbouring and other countries, head of Tehran World Trade Center, Mohammad-Reza Sabzalipour told Trend.
Sabzalipour expressed regret that during ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's ruling, the relations between Iran and the neighbouring states have worsened, and called them "non-diplomatic".
"During the last several years and months Iran's relations with other countries, including neighbouring states, have worsened, and to fix this, the new government and new foreign ministry must pay attention to this issue," Sabzalipour said.
He went on to say that at the moment, Iran has rather cold relations with Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Turkey and some other Arab states.
"To normalize relations with these countries, Iran must develop these relations and expand them," Sabzalipour said. "If we look at Iran today, its relations with both neighboring countries and other countries are at their worst in 30 years."
He went on to note that in order to have peace and stability in the region, Iran must make important moves first, since if the country is able to normalize its relations with neighbouring countries, it would be able to solve its foreign problems as well.
During the last several years, Iran's relations with UK, the U.S. and some European countries have worsened, mostly due to Islamic Republic's nuclear program, that Western states seem as dangerous.
As a result, numerous sanctions have been imposed on Iran, in a move to make the country curb the nuclear program.
Iran has been denying any intention to build a bomb, saying its nuclear research is only for medical purposes.
