Kazakhstan's GDP increased by 5.5 percent in January-August 2013, Kazakh Statistics Agency's chairman Alikhan Smailov said at a briefing on Friday, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.
According to Smailov, the Economy and Budget Planning Ministry planned GDP growth at 6 percent in 2013.
"We believe this aim is absolutely realistic," he said.
Earlier, the Kazakh Economy and Budget Planning Ministry forecasted annual GDP growth at 6-7.1 percent in 2014-2018. The international rating agency Standard & Poor's forecasted that the Kazakh economy would grow by 5.7 percent annually in average in 2013-2016.
