Direct rail transportation launched between Kazakhstan and Turkey

Kazakh Kaztemirtrans company launches a direct rail transportation between Kazakhstan and Turkey, the company reported.

"The first batch of Kaztemirtrans's wagons was send from Kazakhstan to Turkey by train ferry from the port of Poti (Georgia) to the port of Derince (Istanbul, Turkey) on August 29," the company said.

Upon arrival at the port of Derince the railway wagons were rolled forward to the loading tracks.

On September 14 Kaztemirtrans' wagons loaded with consumer goods, returned by ferry to the port of Poti for onward carriage of cargo by rail to the railway station in Kazakh city of Karaganda.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with Ukrainian ferry carrier Ukrferry, Turkish multimodal transport group Bati Rail and Georgian transport company Global Hauling - regional operator of Kaztemirtrans in Georgia.

In future Kaztemirtrans plans to expand the geography of its services and transport goods by ferry between Turkey and other Central Asian region countries - Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

Kaztemirtrans is the leading provider of cargo transportation in Kazakhstan.

Its wagon fleet hit 60,000.
