Azerbaijan's double taxation avoidance agreements with Croatia and Macedonia will be implemented from January 1, 2014, Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes told Trend on Wednesday.

The agreement on avoidance of double taxation of income and property, as well as prevention of tax evasion, was signed with Croatia on March 12, 2012 and came into force on March 18, 2013, the ministry said.

An analogous agreement was signed with Macedonia on April 19, 2013 and came into force on August 12, 2013.

In Azerbaijan these agreements will cover individuals' income tax, tax on the profit of legal entities and property and land tax. In Croatia the agreements will cover income tax, profit tax, local income tax, and in Macedonia - the individual income tax, profit tax, property tax.

Application of a similar agreement with Slovenia began this year.

In general, Azerbaijan has signed double taxation avoidance agreements with 43 countries.
