Azerbaijan is beginning to produce rail freight wagons. The carriage production plant will soon be put into operation at the Sumgait Technology Park (STP), STP chief technology specialist Chingiz Aliyev told journalists on Wednesday.
Work at the plant will cover 20-30 per cent of the needs of freight wagons in the domestic market, he said.
Moreover, two more new plants for aluminium profile production and transformer production are expected to be commissioned in the near future.
"Today, around 14 plants are operating in STP and negotiations on the export of their products are underway," Aliyev added.
According to Aliyev, STP won BP's tender. STP expects to receive a big order for polymeric pipe and cable supply in November. These products will be used in BP projects not only in Azerbaijan, but also abroad.
Sumgait Technology Park passed the state registration as a limited liability company at the Ministry of Taxes on April 6, 2012. It was founded by the AZENCO Group.
