At a regular meeting of Turkmenistan's Council of Elders that was held on Wednesday in Dashoguz with the country's president, issues of implementation of state economic policy were discussed, a source participating at the event said.
The head of the state called this occasion as "the most important socio-political action" for the country.
The Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov stressed that for bringing the national industry to new, high level of compatibility in the domestic and foreign markets, innovative approaches in organization and production are necessary.
Turkmenistan holds one of the key positions in the region for natural gas supply. Its importers are Russia,China and Iran.
Meanwhile, the country's leadership has taken a course for the diversification of economy; the spheres such as oil and gas processing, textile industry, cotton processing industry and production of construction materials develop in recent years.
The growth rates of Turkmenistan's GDP increased by over two times during in recent five years. As of 2012, the comparable growth rate of this indicator hit 11.1 per cent. High enough growth rates are kept this year - 9.9 per cent.
