Kazakhstan to get $780 million revenue from joint transport company with Russia and Belarus

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakhstan will get additional revenue worth $780 million from a new integrated transport and logistics company created jointly with Russia and Belarus, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported on Nov. 26.

This was announced by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy's (Kazakh Railway) head Askar Mamin at the government meeting on November 26.

The national railway companies of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint transport and logistics company on parity basis in June. The new company is scheduled to start working in early 2014. The rolling stock, equipment and other property of the new company will be provided by its shareholders.

"We plan that the joint transport and logistics company will transport 1.7 million containers through Kazakhstan by 2020. The implementation of the project will ensure additional revenue to the amount of $780 million to the railway infrastructure by 2020. Moreover, the multiplier effect of Kazakhstan's economy will hit $5.3 billion," Mamin said.

According to Mamin, the joint company will render one-stop services and have common standard of quality and pricing.
