Trade turnover between Austria and Azerbaijan increased by 94 per cent compared to last year, the head of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Fund (AZPROMO) Rufat Mammadov said at the Azerbaijani-Austrian business forum held on Dec.5.
"As of 2012 this figure amounted to $264 million. We are pleased to note that cooperation between the two countries is developing from year to year," Mammadov said.
AZPROMO's head also stressed there are 46 companies with Austrian capital operating in the country.
"We welcome the interest of Austrian colleagues to invest in the national economy. Azerbaijan also tends to attract Austrian capital to participate in major projects being implemented in the country such as the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park and others," Mammadov said.
According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-October 2013, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Austria was about $333.46 million. During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported Austrian products worth $79.58 million whilst exports to Austria amounted to $253.88 million.
