Turkmenistan is interested in attracting large capital and advanced technology of Germany

Turkmenistan is interested in attracting large capital and advanced technology of Germany, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary (TDH) State News Service reported according to the results of an intergovernmental Turkmen-German meeting on prospects for economic cooperation.
The meeting was held in Ashgabat in the Day of German Economy in Turkmenistan, organized by Turkmen Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Delegate of the German Economy for Central Asia.

"Turkmenistan is interested in attracting large capital, advanced technology, delivering modern machinery and equipment of German production which meets international standards," TDH reported.

For their part, Turkmen producers are ready to increase exports of competitive domestically produced goods to Germany.

The event was attended by government agencies of the two countries, representatives from over 70 companies specialized in trade, energy, chemical industry, banking, transport, communications, construction, industry and agricultural sector. The forum delegates included representatives from RWE, Bosch, KNAUF International, STRABAG AG, CLAAS Global Sales GmbH, Siemens AG Healthcare Sector, Goetzpartners Management Consultans GmbH and other companies.

As TDH reported, Head of the Division of Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology Joerg Kirsch stressed the interest of German business community in expanding its presence in the promising Turkmen market.

In recent years, trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 11 percent. Over 60 business entities with German capital opened their branches and representative offices in Turkmenistan. To date more than 140 joint projects has been imlpemented.

"The main topics of the forum were the issues of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector considering the enormous hydrocarbon potential of Turkmenistan and diversification of export routes for Turkmen energy resources," TDH reported.

Earlier it was reported that the Turkmen government established cooperation with one of the leading traders of natural gas to the European Union market - RWE, which in 2009 signed a production sharing agreement (PSA) in the development of offshore fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.
