The Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will consider the draft first strategy for operations in Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2014, the head of ADB's Baku office Olli Norojono said at a press conference on Dec.16.

The strategy will cover the period from 2014 to 2018, according to Norojono.

"The Azerbaijani government has already approved the document which reflects the results of the consultations between the government and the bank on the strategy in July, 2013," Norojono said.

The major directions of the strategy will include traditional spheres of the bank's activity in Azerbaijan (transport, energy, urban services).

Azerbaijan became a member of the ADB on Dec.22, 1999. The ADB was founded in 1966 and has 67 members. The bank's headquarters is situated in Manila, the capital of Philippines. Azerbaijan's participation share in the bank's capital is 0.5 percent.
