By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran will start injecting natural gas from its South Pars gas field to the national network in February, IRNA quoted the phase 12 development project manager Rasoul Fallahnejad as saying on December 21.
Some 25 million cubic meters of natural gas will be fed to onshore refineries by Friday, he added.
The phase 12 is the largest phase of the Iranian section of the South Pars gas field.
South Pars is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The field on the Iranian side holds 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and has been divided into 29 phases, Phases 1 to 8 have been developed completely, Phases 9 and 10 has been operated, but not to full capacity and Phases 11 to 29 are under construction.
The phase 12 is projected to yield 81 million cubic meters of sour gas, 120,000 barrels of gas condensates, and 750 tons of sulfur per day.
Once the phase 12 comes on stream, it will generate $10-$11 billion income annually for the country, the project manager said, adding that $6.5 billion has been invested in the phase 12 development project.
On October 7, IRNA quoted the deputy director of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company Amir Saeid Najafi as saying that Iran will inaugurate the phase 12 of the South Pars gas field in the first half of the next Iranian calendar year, which starts on March 21, 2014.
Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has announced that the Ministry has a special focus on completing and inaugurating the South Pars' gas field phases 12, 15, 16, 17, 18.
