WSA: Iran’s crude steel output increases by 12.5 percent in November

Iran produced around 1.375 million tons of crude steel in November 2013, the World Steel Association said in its latest press release, the ISNA News Agency reported on December 21.

The figure shows over 12.5 percent increase compared to the same month of the previous year.

The country's total output in the first eleven months of 2013 amounted to 14.71 million tons, which is 6 percent more than the same time span last year.

World crude steel production for the 65 countries reporting to the WSA was 127.364 million tons in September, up 3.6 percent compared to September 2013.

World crude steel production in the first eleven months of 2013 was 1.447 billion tons, an increase of 3.2 percent compared to the same period of 2012.

Iran's crude steel production reached 14.89 million tons in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20.

Iran plans to increase its annual steel output to 55 million tons by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2015).
