The volume of transit traffic through Kazakhstan will double by 2020 and tenfold by 2050, Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev told media today.
"Kazakhstan plans to reconstruct 30,000 kilometers of roads according to the state program of transport infrastructure development by 2020," he said.
"The construction of the international transit corridor "Western Europe-Western China" is a priority project," the minister added. "Moreover, some 1,124 kilometers of highways at the regional and district level will be reconstructed in Kazakhstan by late 2020."
